Invisalign is a leading treatment already chosen by more than 6 million people across the world. Many dentists and orthodontists offer the treatment, so it’s important that you choose based on reputation and track record. This is because the results you get will depend on the technology, but also on the expert carrying out your treatment.

Any dentist can treat patients with Invisalign, however for the best results you should choose an orthodontist due to their experience in re-alignment of teeth. This is especially true if your case is more complex. Every orthodontist is also a qualified dentist, however not every dentist is qualified as an orthodontist.
Treatment costs vary as the treatment is customised for each patient. The cost should be seen as an investment as your smile is an asset. As a guide, the cost ranges from £3000 – £5000 based on a 12 – 18 month treatment duration. Patients who only require small adjustments can benefit from a lower treatment price of around £1500. Our practice offers monthly payment plans with interest free finance available. Insurance cover can also be used towards the cost of your treatment. This can be health or dental insurance or orthodontic cover. We aim to make treatment affordable to all our patients.
Clear braces can give you the smile and confidence you are looking for without the hassle and restrictions of traditional fixed metal braces. Aligners need to be worn for 22 hours a day and need to be removed when eating or drinking, unless you are drinking cold water. Patients who don’t follow the required wear time may need to extend their treatment duration or not achieving the best possible result. You’ll be able to preview your new smile before starting your treatment thanks to our ClinCheck 3D digital smile simulation. We offer Invisalign Full, i7, Lite and Teen.
Your treatment plan will be based on a series of aligners which will gradually move your teeth to their new and desired positions. You will need to wear your aligners for around 2 weeks before moving up to the next aligner in the sequence. Re-alignment of teeth must be done gradually because if carried out too fast this can affect the dental root which can affect stability.
Aligners are smooth and comfortable to wear, and because treatment is gradual there is little if any pain or soreness, unlike fixed metal braces. It may take a few days to get used to wearing your aligners, but patients are pleasantly surprise by how invisible the trays actually are. It’s easy to get used to your new routine, especially when you know how your new smile will look.
It’s up to you if you tell anyone you are having orthodontic treatment. Aligners may make your teeth appear more glossy but many of our patients complete their treatment without anyone even noticing.
Some patients find their speech sounds a little different for a few days, but this quickly returns to normal, and you may find you salivate more although this will also return to normal. Some patients also need to have tooth coloured attachments placed on their teeth if particular teeth require additional rotation or movement. This enables the aligners to grip and complete the necessary alignment efficiently. This is also virtually invisible as the material is made of tooth coloured composite. This is removed at the end of your treatment.
Cleaning your teeth and aligners is easy, fast and hassle free. You simply remove your aligners and brush and floss in the normal way. Fixed metal braces can lead to discolouration if proper brushing is not done with care and attention. Aligners can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush and small quantity of tooth paste. Cleaning tablets which dissolve are also available.
You can eat and drink all of your favourite foods during your treatment, as your aligners are fully removable. You don’t need to restrict or change your diet in any way. You would take our your aligners when eating and drinking to ensure proper hygiene and to preserve your aligners since they cannot be worn for biting or chewing – they are not designed for this. You’ll also need to clean your teeth and aligners after each snack or meal or drink, unless cold water.
Your appointments will be every 6 – 8 weeks and you will also need to visit your dentist as normal. At each orthodontic appointment you will be given a box which contains 3 – 4 aligners for each phase of your treatment.
Retainers need to be worn after any orthodontic treatment to maintain your results long term. We advise and provide two types of retainers as standard. The first is a fixed retainer wire which is fixed behind your lower front teeth. The second retainer is a removable retainer which is worn at night and is similar to your Invisalign trays. This is worn for two nights each week.
